Being a desert landscapes there only few grasses and shrubs that provide food for the wildlife inhabitants of the park. The animals found in the Desert National Park are Bengal Fox, Desert Fox, Desert Cat, Chinkara, Black Buck, Wolf, etc. These animals live in very difficult topography, stilly they have managed to survive.
Being a famous national park in India, bird population of the park gives great contribution. There is an abundance of birdlife found in the park. The major bird attraction of the park is Great Indian Bustard – a protected species in India. It is found in relatively fair numbers in the park. Other kinds of birds found in the park are Sand Grouse, Falcons, Buzzards, Vultures, Kites, Bee Eaters, Eagles, Harriers, Kestrels, Spotted Eagles, Tawny Eagles, etc.

The most suitable time to visit the area is between November and January.

Desert National Park is situated at the distance of 40 km away from Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer has a number of accommodation options ranging from budget catering all kinds of tourists. Jaisalmer is well connected with all major cities of the state as well as cities of neighboring states.
